I’m here – drove into Taos around noon today and was very surprised to find myself in the middle of a traffic jam! It’s a little bitty town, but it is just packed to the gills with tourists and art-seekers. I drove straight to the lodge and parked – figuring explorations on foot would be a whole lot less stressful and I’m so glad I did because the first thing I saw on my way back down the road to the main drag was this beautiful wall (where, incidentally, I got my first hint that I might encounter angels)…
Most of the architecture here is very rustic and southwest – lots of adobe, lots of washed out and aged color (like in the wall above). I wandered shops until check-in time at Mabel Dodge Luhan Lodge and found a wide mix of stores and galleries – everything from Day of the Dead memorabilia to this embossed art by Ed Morgan – the colors in these were just luminous and the artist creates the embossing molds himself.
I also found a bookstore, called Moby Dickens, with lots of little nooks and crannies and even a second floor with comfy reading chairs and all the fiction you could hope for. In case you’re wondering, no, I didn’t buy anything, but I’m almost certain that sentence needs a “yet” on the end of it.
AND, I found a little coffee shop, just around the corner from the lodge that makes wonderful chai and made me feel right at home with this happy little garland of dragonflies dancing around the patio eves.
I met a few of the ladies tonight for dinner and found them all to be truly artistic and inspiring women – two of the ladies spoke of having met and studied with the angel lady herself, Doreen Virtue, so if there weren’t angels here already, I suspect they might have flown in on the wings of these intriguing ladies.
Blessings,
Kelley

Kelley,
Sounds wonderful! I’ve always wanted to visit Arizona . . Taos. . . Someday I will make it there. I was there when I was 12, but don’t remember much. The petrified forest . . .
Enjoy the retreat . . . and definitely visit the Anasazi ruins on your way home!
Namaste, Kel
