100 Days of Sacred Art (55) & AEDM (Day 18)
(Vision Board)

Lately, I seem to keep stumbling across the idea of making a Vision Board – of course it was prominent in The Secret and I actually made one at a retreat last fall, but more recently, I ran across this from Christine Kane and also this book, which I ordered and received but haven’t yet spent any time with. I read Christine’s article and decided to start from there (though I might try again once I’ve explored the book further).
I pulled out a piece of sticky board – I’m not sure if that’s what it’s called, but you can get it in varying degrees of stickiness at Hobby Lobby. It’s non-sticky on one side and you peel away a piece of waxy paper on the sticky side and use it to mount pictures for matting. I thought it would be good here because, as I looked through magazines, I wanted to be able to stick images down quickly and not over-think them too much. Here’s how it came out (I added glitter in places that were too small to paste another picture)…
There’s a LOT on here, so I’ll just give you a few explanatory highlights…
- In the upper right corner is a gun with a daisy sticking out of it – this one appealed to my dream of one day seeing a world at peace (I know – it sounds a little like a beauty queen answering the mystery question, but it’s really from my heart).
- In the lower left corner, there is a child’s hand to signify my dream of having a child in my life again one day.
- Just above that is a guy with a bike, writing on a wall; the caption above him reads, “Your Fears Erased Here Daily” – need I say more?
- There are lots of images of people moving their bodies - yoga remains very dear to my heart and I have a vision of strengthening my personal practice and maybe teaching one day.
- There are several images relating to my dream of one day owning my own business – most prominent of these is a bit of Kelly Rae Roberts’ blog banner in the lower left.
- There’s the word “Rethink” because I feel I’m at a place where I want to rethink or reinvent my life.
- There are several images relating to my need to expand creativity in my life and also several of fresh fruit to signify my wish to return to a more healthy, more natural diet.
On a completely unrelated note… I realized today that I never shared a final picture of Megan’s birthday surprise – how could I forget!? This was such a fun project and I just adore how it turned out. I picked up an unfinished wooden box at Hobby Lobby, carefully removed all of the hardware and then used Matte Medium to attach the most beautiful scrapbook papers to all of the large surfaces (inside and out). Once it was good and dry, I sanded everything lightly to just age it a bit, then I carefully reattached the hardware. No two sides have the same pattern, but all of the papers came from the same line – called “Life is Beautiful” from sassafraslass.com. I’ve already counted this project toward my 100 Days back in October, so am not counting it again today, but I did want to share it with you…
Inside the box, I nestled a rainbow of Stewart Gills (purchased from Artist Cellar) and a set of Twinkling H2Os – this is quite honestly one of my favorite gifts given (EVER)…
The quote inside the lid says, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everday life.” ~Pablo Picasso

what a beautiful, wonderful gift, kelley!! loving it. and totally loving your vision board! i get the feeling it expresses of color, movement, and love of life.
Oh, what a great Treasure Map/Vision Board – & thanks for the links!! It looks really inspiring – & what a sweet gift box!
I have made some boards with friends – it’s a fun group activity! One highlight from the first session with 2 couples, & another single gal & myself — we all worked independently, sharing the mags, ‘do you want this?’ with photos, etc.
When we were all done, we played ’show & tell,’ & talked about our boards (like your highlights). . . one of the couples had been thinking of adopting a child for several years. They INDEPENDENTLY chose pictures of an Oriental Girl! Within the next two years, they adopted their Vietnamese son, & a few years after that, a Chinese daughter!
I’ve just made my first SoulCollage card – got Seena Frost’s book on that (received it yest) – it’s on my ‘creationstation’ blog! A smaller version, & each card focuses on a different aspect! Such fun
I really want to start a vision board! Stop by my blog for your assignment! xoxo
The gift is fantastic, what treat that would be to receive. Your vision board is awesome. I put the writers spa on my vision board in 2007 but I didn’t get to go till 2008. Do you get the Notes from the Universe..if not go to Tut.com and subscribe you will love them. I loved Dance for the Dissident daughter. I think I’ll be signing up for Suzi’s goddess class thanks to you.
