The winter solstice is coming up (December 21) and I’m planning an evening of pampering…
- I just received my copy of Solstice: Stories of Light in the Dark by Jen Lee and I’m saving it for…
- A long hot bath that will feature Lavender Salt Soothers, and to top it off…
- I’m finally going to burn my Follow Your Dreams candle from Zena Moon. I’ve been saving this one for I’m-not-sure-what. I think it’s time.
In the Northern hemisphere, where I live, our calendars mark the winter solstice as the first day of winter, but oddly enough, as the longest night of the year it actually marks the return of the sun. It’s a night that some consider an in-between time… a time when the long nights of winter will finally release their hold and daylight will begin its slow return; a time to honor ourselves for all that we’ve achieved and pamper ourselves a bit in preparation for the work we have ahead of us; and a time to start anew, letting go of things that hold us back.
How will you honor yourself on this longest night?
Blessings,
Kelley

What I really should do is go through my old journals.
That has always been an end of the year tradition for me, but what with the kids and various upheavals and interruptions, I have not been reviewing my old life/goals/dreams the way I used to.
Maybe I should start the process on the solstice and use the end of the year to let myself sink into myself.
That’s not a bad idea at all. Hmm. I should get me some candles and some nice tea to go along with it.
Popped over from Brown Eyed Fox…for my winter solstice and beyond I’m planning on reading more novels. I see you have a book addiction and we share some similiar favs. If you haven’t read “The Shack” –it’s a must! (bestseller section at Barnes and Noble).
I knew some people that used to have a Winter Solstice party, wouldn’t that be fun?!? I hadn’t thought about making it me time…but I am going to!
I think it’s the loveliest holiday in the calendar!
