Glitter Thief

This is the second time I’ve had to roll up this glittery yarn.  Mr. Tucker watched me do it the first time and carefully noted where I placed it (in a box with a loose lid) and today, when I was at the grocery store, he opened the box, extracted the green yarn (from several other choices in said box) and gleefully wound it around chair legs, tables, under doors and all the way across the living room.  I probably shouldn’t encourage him, but who could resist that “who me?” look!?

It Rained – It Really, Really RAINED!!!!!

And if it weren’t for the lightening, I would have been really, really tempted to go out and play in it!  :)

Painting Bee

Spent last Saturday splashing paint around with a perfectly lovely group of friends and family.  We had so much fun and the end result was just GORGEOUS!  Once the big pieces were dry (which only took about 10 minutes in the hot Oklahoma sun!!), we cut them into smaller pieces, then everyone chose what spoke to them and punched out butterflies to make their own little butterfly shadow boxes like the one I shared a few weeks ago.

It reminded me of a quilting bee in a very real way – only with paint.  Everyone just talked and shared and painted and played and learned new things.  I adore that sort of connection in any flavor, but combined with art… heaven!!

Wordless Wednesday

Wish my table could look like this every day…

Welcome!

Here’s my new entry way – the wall here was originally white, with nothing much of interest on top. The deep yellow and whimsical artwork feels much more welcoming…

The cabinet came from Pottery Barn and the artwork, clockwise from the bottom left, is “Sweetheart Tree” (print by Cathy Nichols), “Collection” (MHF class piece – designed by Lisa Bruno), mirror from Hobby Lobby, “More than Two” (print by Sarah Ahearn), and bottom right is a shadowbox I made using photos from my recent trip to PEI – here’s a closer look (I’m LOVING all things dimensional lately)…

The plan is for this to be sort of a gallery wall – with more art added over time (inspired by that original Pottery Barn add).

Everything in its Place

Still pulling things back together – not only at my house, but at my mother-in-law’s house too.  She wasn’t quite as excited as I was about this change, but it was needed and we got through it relatively unscathed.  Now I can concentrate on putting things back where they belong and maybe even a little sprucing up as well.

I’ve got more to show you over the next few days, so stay tuned!

Spring Celebrations!

I played hooky from work yesterday afternoon (shhh) and went to the nursery.  Is there anything more wonderful than acres of blooming loveliness?  I only wish I’d taken the big-girl camera, though the iphone photo isn’t half bad (imho).

Then I spent the afternoon finishing up presents for my family.  We’re celebrating the “spring events” tomorrow, including Easter, my sister and nephew’s b-days, and mother’s day (since I will be elsewhere on the actual mother’s day – insert flutter of excitement).

I have to admit that the celebration of spring events stresses me a tiny bit – it’s almost like Christmas in volume and it involves the moms and grandmas, which requires a significant stepping up of the giving!  You know I’m all about the packaging-wowness and I have to say I’m LOVING these ones.  Couldn’t I just keep them around the studio to make things pretty??

The background paper in the bottle cap is from a new Cosmo Cricket mini-deck called Social Club. I made the wrapping paper using white paper, ocre paint, and a homemade stamp (made with soccer ball foamies).

More of the Cosmo Cricket paper in the bottle cap. Oh, and I added magnets to the back - this one is stuck to the side of a tin bucket, which holds a gorgeous double begonia for my grandma.

And here's the whole shebang - can't resist all that color, color, color!!

Happy spring!!

Zuzu’s Petals

Last week was not the best week for me.  I found out today that it wasn’t entirely the best week for somebody I love either.

How come, when the going gets tough, we (I) so often forget to reach out to the people we need the most?

Love you beyond words, Zuzu.

Mr. Tucker-man stopped eating a few days ago.  The most I’ve been able to get into him is a few bites of tuna and he won’t go anywhere NEAR the cat carrier without inflicting bodily harm (and I’m not even exaggerating here).

I’ve carefully cleaned the bowls, the mats, even the container where I keep the food.  I’ve tried various kinds of both dried and canned foods and he just sniffs longingly, then turns away.  I even made a vet appointment for today, but had to cancel because of the whole ix-nay on the arrier-cay.   I’m at my wits end and what I’m reading on the internet is terrifying at this point… to say the least.

If anybody has any advice on something such as this, I’d be very grateful.  He may be a bit of a stink sometimes, but he owns a piece of my heart.

*Update:  Hubby got the little monster into his crate and we got him to the vet.  After much hysteria and a liberal application of happy gas, the doc found nothing wrong.  Tuck promptly came home and shared some of Hubby’s roast beef sandwich, then went and snacked on the food in his bowl.  Did I mention he is sometimes a bit of a stink?  Doc took blood, so we’ll find out for sure tomorrow, but right now appears it was all an expression of his sometimes-stinky temperament.

Thanks LOADS for the advice Kate and Kim – the moral support means the world to me!!
